Commission Information

Types of Commissions

  • Bulk Order of Existing Pieces

This option is for those that want to commission a bulk order of an item that is currently on sale. For example if you're wanting 10 Pen holders.

Changes in the design of the piece outside of the glaze color is available. Please choose from my list of available glazes.

  • Customization of an Existing Piece

This option is available for those that see an existing piece, but it doesn't quite look the way you want, for example the color you want is not available, or the design is a Cat and you want a Dog.

For changes in the glaze color, Please choose from my list of available glazes. . If the design is what you are looking to change, please include examples of what you are looking for.

Please understand that changes in the design of a piece may incur an additional cost.

  • A Unique Custom Piece

If the options I have available are not what you are looking for, then a unique custom piece may be for you. if you're looking for something different. then please choose this option and we can discuss what you are looking for.

Pricing

Commission cost will vary due to many factors, including the type of commission you are looking for. Generally speaking customizing an existing piece will likely only see an increase of $5-$10 depending on the type of the change requested. Different glaze colors will be cheaper then different designs, Bulk orders will also tend to only have a small up-charge per item, due to the overhead of having to stop production on other piece. Granted, if a sufficient number of items are requested, a discount may be applicable. Unique Pieces will vary greatly in cost, based on complexity, size, and difficulty.

For bulk orders and customization of existing pieces a down-payment of 25% will be required before any work will be started. For unique piece a down payment of 50% will be required.

Communication

Communication is necessary, it can help keep the process moving along. Please try to be prompt with responses to my questions, if I do not hear from you within 48 hours (Unless I have been notified before hand that you will be out of contact for a period of time), I will assume you are no longer interested in proceeding and I will put your piece on hold, after a 7 day grace period, I will stop work competently and reclaim the clay for another project.

As part of the commission process, I will send you progress pictures throughout the different stages of work. Please be patient when it comes to updates, but feel free to reach out and ask where I'm at, though often no news is good news.

Payment

Payment will be divided into two separate transaction. The first is a down payment, this will be 25% or 50% of the total cost depending on the type of commission requested. This payment is non-refundable and required before any work will begin on the project. Once the commission is complete, I will ask for the remaining 50%-75% as a final payment. Please make this payment promptly, as I will not ship/deliver the piece until this payment is received. For payment options I primarily accept PayPal, I WILL NOT accept Venmo. If you cannot use PayPal then please let me know and we can discuss a different form of payment. Please be aware that other forms of payment may incur additional fees.

Risks

There are several risks involved in pottery. The Glaze/Underglaze can shift or decolor during the firing process. The piece can develop cracks or possibly even explode. Understand that I will not charge for having to remake a piece that failed due to the firing process, but it could push delivery back. As stated in the Communication section, I will keep you up to date on any events that happen. Sometimes the Glaze shifting can be considered a happy little accident as Bob Ross would put it and you may like the results. If that is the case please let me know if you would like to keep it.
